My Counselling Focus Areas
Explore therapy for first responders, healthcare professionals, and individuals navigating trauma, health challenges, and emotional overwhelm.
When you spend your life caring for others, it can be hard to find space for yourself. But carrying everything on your own can become exhausting. In this space you can put some of that weight down.
Who I Work With
I work with clients with a range of backgrounds who often find themselves feeling like:
You’re used to being the one others rely on, but it’s starting to feel like too much
You’ve experienced things, at work or in life, that haven’t fully left you
You feel like you have to keep parts of yourself hidden just to get through the day
You’re navigating a diagnosis, chronic illness, or supporting someone who is
You feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or not quite like yourself anymore
You want support, but don’t want to feel judged, analyzed, or “fixed”
If any part of this resonates, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to carry it by yourself.
My Practice Focus Areas
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. These are some of the areas I most often support clients in, with care that is tailored to your experiences and what you need.
Working in healthcare or as a first responder can mean being exposed to high-pressure and often traumatic situations, while still being expected to keep going.
With a background as a registered nurse, I understand the demands of these environments and the weight that can come with them on a personal level. You don’t need to explain the system or “justify” your experience here. Together, we can create space to process what you’ve been through, reconnect with yourself, and develop ways to support your wellbeing both at work and at home.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
At the core of many of our struggles is a desire to feel connected, understood, and safe– both within ourselves and with others.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps us explore patterns in how we relate, communicate, and respond in relationships. This might include romantic relationships, family dynamics, or even how you relate to yourself.
Health, Chronic Illness & Caregiver Support
Living with a chronic illness or receiving a diagnosis can bring a wide range of emotions including grief, fear, anger, uncertainty, and isolation. Similarly, if you are supporting a loved one through illness, you may also be carrying your own quiet weight while trying to be strong for someone else.
With a background in healthcare, I understand the medical system, the language, and the emotional impact that often comes with these experiences. You don’t have to explain or simplify what you’re going through. This space allows you to process your experience honestly, feel supported, and reconnect with a sense of agency in your life, even in the midst of uncertainty.
Trauma Therapy
Trauma can come from many different experiences including what you’ve witnessed, what you’ve lived through, or what has stayed with you over time.
You might notice it showing up as anxiety, overwhelm, emotional numbness, difficulty sleeping, or feeling constantly on edge. Using trauma-informed approaches such as EMDR and IFS, we work gently and at your pace to help process these experiences in a way that feels safe and supportive.
Marriage Counselling
Relationships can be deeply meaningful, but they can also become strained, disconnected, or difficult to navigate over time. You may find yourselves stuck in patterns of miscommunication, feeling unheard, or struggling to reconnect after conflict, stress, or major life changes.
Whether you are navigating ongoing challenges or simply wanting to strengthen your connection, this work focuses on building understanding, improving communication, and supporting a more secure and connected partnership.
In addition to the focus areas above, I also support individuals and couples navigating a wide range of experiences including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-worth, emotional health, and communication difficulties.
This includes support for those experiencing social anxiety, anger, procrastination, caregiver stress, and the emotional impact of chronic illness, autoimmune conditions, or cancer. No matter what you’re carrying, you are welcome to bring it into this space.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. Many of my clients come from healthcare and first responder backgrounds, and I bring both professional and lived understanding of these environments.

That’s completely okay. We move at your pace, and there’s no expectation to share anything before you’re ready.

The complimentary 15-minute phone consultation is a chance to get a feel for that. It’s important that you feel comfortable and supported in the process.

There isn’t one single approach that works for everyone, but what matters most is that it feels safe and tailored to you. I use a trauma-informed approach, including EMDR and parts-based work (IFS), and we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
